During my recent trip to England, (more about that later), and in a bit of a mad impulse.... I decided to get my ears peirced. I put this almost 40 year delay, in doing what most little girls long for, down to my friend Lorette Simpson.
Lorette was the luckiest person I knew, ( and i was the second luckiest because I was Lorette's best freind). Her mum was a hairdresser, which gave her carte blanche to experience everything girlie and beautifying... for some reason "dry shampoo" springs to mind - we went through cans of the stuff.
When we were 7 or 8 years old we went to the salon where her mum worked with the sole purpose of getting our ears pierced. Now at some point, I dont know when, I changed my mind - I can only guess it was when I watched my best friend have a needle shot through her ear....
....Until now. yes, at 44 years of age I faced my fears and went for it at Avalon Beauty Centre in Cheltenham Spa, England. A very nice girl called Amy, (with a stud in her tongue none the less - not sure im ready for that!), performed the act, painlessly, calmly and very professionaly and I now have little silver studs in each ear. I have to resist the temptation to "twiddle" as, according to Amy, its a myth that it aids healing. Can I keep this up for 6 weeks?
BTW Amy - sorry I thought your naturally lushious eyelashes were extensions .... its a bit of an obsession of mine recently!
